About George

George Montgomery “Monty” Baylor, MD, is a board-certified anesthesiologist and pain management physician whose approach to medicine focuses on his patients, not the disease. As a cornerstone of the Roanoke Valley region's pain medicine care since 2004, Dr. Baylor brings a wealth of experience with advanced therapies to Blue Ridge Pain Management Associates in Roanoke, Salem, and Christiansburg, Virginia.

After earning his medical degree at Joan C. Edwards School of Medicine at Marshall University in Huntington, West Virginia, Dr. Baylor completed his internship at the Charleston Area Medical Center in Charleston, West Virginia. He went on to complete his residency in anesthesiology and fellowship in pain medicine at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh. While pursuing his pain medicine fellowship, Dr. Baylor concurrently completed a fellowship in health care management at the Kenan-Flagler Business School at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill.

Committed to patient-centered care, Dr. Baylor is in constant pursuit of knowledge to expand his offerings. He's dedicated to teaching and has served as associate professor of anesthesia pain management at the Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine in Blacksburg, Virginia, since 2007. Additionally, Dr. Baylor has proudly served his country in the United States Army Reserve for 23 years and retired at the rank of lieutenant colonel in 2013.

Dr. Baylor is married to his delightful wife, Kathy, and has two wonderful daughters. He's happy to call Roanoke home and looks forward to continuously improving pain medicine and patient-focused care at Blue Ridge Pain Management Associates.
